Chattanooga, Tennessee

“To travel is to live.”
― Hans Christian Andersen

One of the things my husband, Randy, and I enjoy most is exploring new places.  This summer, for our vacation, we went to Chattanooga, Tennessee.  Chattanooga is a place that neither of us had visited before.  We packed a great deal into four days of exploration of Chattanooga and

the surrounding area.

Chattanooga is a charming city with a great deal to do and explore.

The first thing we did was tour Ruby Falls.  The tour of the caverns is over an hour.  The finale of the tour is the underground waterfall.  The tour is informative and fascinating.

After our tour of Ruby Falls, we went on to Rock City which was located nearby.  Rock City has gorgeous views.  There is one view where you can see seven states.  Rock City has a large waterfall, gardens, a fairy garden, fairy tale characters, and gnomes.

When the temperatures got hot in the afternoons, we sought out cooler activities.  One of the things we did was check out the Glackens & Renoir exhibit at the Hunter Museum of American Art.

We also spent an afternoon exploring the Tennesse Aquarium.

One day, we stayed cool in the Ocoee River while whitewater rafting with Ocoee Rafting.  We started our rafting adventure in Ducktown, which is about an hour drive from Chattanooga.

As we said goodbye to Chattanooga, we took a detour to visit Falls Creek Falls State Park on our way home.  While there, we saw five waterfalls located in the park.

The next time you are looking for a place to explore, I highly recommend Chattanooga, Tennessee and the surrounding area.
