Each spring, I spend as much time as possible at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens while the azaleas are blooming.  This year was no exception.

I made three separate day trips over three weekends in order to photograph the azalea bloom.

I always try to find new compositions when visiting a favorite and familiar place like Magnolia.  Although the images I came away with may not be new to everyone, they were different from things I  had previously photographed in the garden.

After going through three weeks of images, I finally settled upon my favorites.  When I looked for commonalities between the images,  I noticed that all of my favorites had the glow of gorgeous, early morning light.  There is no question that the early morning is my favorite time to photograph.

I thoroughly enjoyed every minute I spent in the garden photographing peacocks, seeing my first armadillo (that picture only exists in my memory), seeing many friends and fellow photographers, discovering new favorite images, and enjoying the spectacular beauty of nature.

On my third visit to the garden during the azalea bloom, I said my goodbyes until next year’s bloom.
