I didn’t really think about how I might be influencing my students until one of my girls last year asked if she could bring in the camera she received as a gift and ask me some question about it.
Once we were working with her new camera, everyone became very excited.
My students began bringing in pictures to share with me that they took outside of school.
I didn’t anticipate that when my students observed me taking one quick picture per day, they would become interested in photography. It was wonderful for me to see their interest grow.
One day, a student came up to me and held his camera up to take a picture.
During free time, he used Post-it ™ Notes to create this camera.
What I did not realize initially was that his camera was a working camera.
Just after he took my picture, he pulled out a picture of me.
I am absolutely thrilled to be able to share my passion for photography with my students. Photography has changed my life in more ways than I can possibly express. Perhaps one of my students will continue to explore photography.
