“Taking pictures is savoring life intensely, every hundredth of a second.”
―
As I teach during the final years of my career, it is beginning to make me feel nostalgic. I am trying, in a way, to savor every second. My personal project, to take a photo each day for the last five years of my career, began last year by photographing the things I saw around the school.
A flower arrangement in the school office was my subject one day.
Brushes and paint left outside on the sidewalk seemed to capture a day in the life at school.
A student’s purse on the playground turned into a colorful subject.
I found myself looking at everything more intensely to determine whether I could make an image using it.
This was just the beginning of my project, last year. I found, after a while, that just the inanimate objects were not enough to hold my interest. I hope you will continue to follow my project to see where it has led.
