“Your first 10,000 photographs are your worst.”
― Henri Cartier-Bresson
My dear friend and mentor, Les Saucier, always emphasizes the importance of practice.
I brought 2017 to a close practicing photography. I try to find every opportunity to practice. The last days of 2017 were spent photographing with Randy and dear friends in the mountains of North Carolina.
Our first stop was the Carl Sandburg Home. Whenever I visit the Carl Sandburg home, I always love seeing the goats. I loved the way the light was hitting this goat as he seemed to be studying me.
While walking around the home, I was drawn to the ivy growing up the side of the house.
On New Year’s Eve, we photographed at the Biltmore Estate.
Since it was so cold outside, we enjoyed spending time photographing inside the greenhouse at the Biltmore.
Outside, it was not quite as comfortable. As we walked by one of the ponds on the grounds, I noticed the koi moving extremely slowly beneath the ice.
I thoroughly enjoyed ending 2017 exploring and photographing with Randy and great friends. I am looking forward to seeing where my camera leads me in 2018!
