Pretty Place

It is not difficult to see why Fred W. Symmes Chapel is called Pretty Place.  There are many images of this chapel, but few really portray the beauty and serenity of being there as the sun rises.

This was not my first visit to Pretty Place,

and I am sure it will not be my last.  The first time I heard of Pretty Place, a friend was explaining where she got married.  I cannot imagine how beautiful it would be to get married there.  The view is just breath-taking.

On the morning of this visit, we were the second group to arrive.  I was able to capture the beauty of the twilight and the couple enjoying the sunrise.

Soon, many began filing into the chapel before sunrise.  I moved to the back of the chapel and took this shot before leaving so as not to intrude on the service that was about to take place at sunrise.

As we made our way out of the camp that morning, we stopped at a small lake where campers of Camp Greenville can enjoy the water.  I loved the old fashioned slides that would transport happy campers into the refreshing water.

I would love to visit Pretty Place when the leaves change to brilliant fall colors.

If your travels take you near Cleveland, South Carolina, be sure to take the time to visit this gorgeous chapel at Camp Greenville!
