This has definitely been a summer of lighthouses for me. I have had the opportunity to explore lighthouses in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, on Assateague Island, and in Maine during my summer break this year.
My first stop for lighthouses was
the Outer Banks of North Carolina. I had the privilege of spending one week in the Outer Banks with my friends from Mountains to Sea Workshops. I have attended many workshops with them and always enjoy my time, learn a lot, make new friends, and come home with great images.
During our week, we spent time shooting at Bodie Island Lighthouse. We wanted to capture the Milky Way at this lighthouse.
We also were able to capture this lighthouse with a double rainbow.
Another popular lighthouse to visit in the Outer Banks is Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. There were no special lighting conditions during our visit, so I looked to get creative with composition in order to make my images more interesting. Here are the two images that I walked away with during our time shooting at Cape Hatteras Lighthouse.
The third lighthouse I was able to photograph while in the Outer Banks was the Roanoke Marshes Lighthouse. I have photographed this lighthouse in the past. I wanted to come home with a new composition. This was my favorite composition of my visit to Manteo to photograph the Roanoke Marshes Lighthouse.
I so enjoyed photographing these lighthouses in the Outer Banks. I hope you will come back later this week when I share the lighthouse of Assateague Island and the lighthouses I visited in Maine.
