Sunflowers remain one of my very favorite subjects to photograph. It is absolutely impossible to be in a bad mood when standing in a field of sunflowers. They are just happy flowers.
Each summer I like to spend as much time as I can photographing when the sunflowers are in bloom. I am so fortunate to live about forty minutes away from some very large fields of sunflowers. These fields are located in
Draper Wildlife Management Area. Draper Wildlife Management Area is located in McConnells, South Carolina.
Each year when visiting the fields, I try to walk away with something new. I want a different composition than one I have already captured.
I wanted to capture these backlit flowers. I was pleasantly surprised, once loading the images onto my computer, to find this backlit bee.
I love how the early morning light made the flowers absolutely glow.
The image above was created by using in camera multiple exposure.
My eye was drawn to the pollen that was covering the leaf below the flower.
Here is another version with the early morning light making the flower and surrounding flowers glow.
These are my favorites from my two visits to the sunflower fields this summer. I would love to hear which of these is your favorite and why.
