Home is Where the Art Is

“There is nothing more truly artistic than to love people.”
― Vincent Van Gogh

I will never forget the day in November of 2019 when my Mom informed me she would begin receiving support from Hospice.  It took me weeks to wrap my head around the H word.  I was engulfed in fear.  I associated the word Hospice with The End.

I learned so much since that day.  I saw how my mother was able to continue to live and create art in her own home, as fiercely independent as she always had been, thanks to the support Hospice and Community Care of Rock Hill, SC provided her each week.

Throughout my life, my mother created.  She passed the passion for creating on to my brother and me.  I am so grateful that thanks to the support of Hospice, as well as the support of family members, she continued to create each day of her life.

From November of 2019, until her passing in April of 2022, I was my mother’s primary caregiver.  My camera allowed me to capture precious memories during this time while helping me navigate my wave of emotions.

I would like to share some of those memories here.

During this period of time,  I took literally thousands of photographs.  I hope you will visit my gallery of favorites from this time.  You can do that by clicking here.

I am still processing what this time in life meant to me. Of all the pictures I have taken through the years, I know these are among the most meaningful.

Photograph the ones you love!
