“Water is the driving force in nature.”
―
My recent visits to the zoo led me to photographing things
in or on the water.
Reflections are always something I look for when near the water.

I spent lots of time watching the seals, penguins, and otters frolicking in the the water.

I always check to see what the alligator is doing while visiting the zoo. Most times I find the alligator submerged in murky, water or far from the range of my camera. One day, this past week, I found him sunning himself on the sandy bank.

During one of my visits, I noticed flowers that had fallen from a Dragon Tree floating in the pool of water by the flamingos. I photographed these flowers. It wasn’t until I came home that I realized I should have photographed them using a long exposure in order to capture the motion of the swirling water and flowers. On my next visit, later that week, I was sure to do just that.

I am thoroughly enjoying the challenge of finding the unexpected in a place that is frequently photographed. I hope you will take the time to look for the unexpected.
