Images Forty-Six through Fifty-Two of Fifty Two

“I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are making mistakes…you’re Doing Something.”
― Neil Gaiman

While I will never look back on the year 2020 as my best year in photography, I will  look back on it as a year that I did

something.

The 52 Frames Project was a wonderful way to keep me doing something throughout the challenges of the year.  I was dedicated to creating one image per week.  It kept me going, got me outside, allowed me to try new things.  It kept me doing something photographically each week when inspiration sometimes failed me.

The challenge for week forty-six was to create an image using a phone.  I begin each morning walking my dog, Maui.  On this particular morning the rain greeted us on our way out of the door.  As we crossed the street, I noticed our shadows.  Using the camera that I had with me, my I Phone, I created this shot of our morning adventure.

While at my lifelong best friend’s beach house, I was able to use her stunning house décor as my subject, circle, for week forty-seven.

Week forty-eight’s challenge, nature, was easy for me as I started my journey in photography as a nature photographer.  Each fall, I visit an area of gingko trees.  They never disappoint.

Week forty-nine’s challenge, choose a color, should have been an easy one to fulfill.  Unfortunately, that week’s responsibilities left me completely drained.  Since I was so close to completing the year of images, there was no way I was going to miss a submission.  However, I just didn’t have it in me to even pretend to be creative.  I had NOTHING left to give.  I left the lens cap on my lens and made one click.  My submission for the week was…black.

Texture was easy to find in the South Carolina town, Abbeville, that my husband and I took a morning drive to see.

It was very fitting that Maui help me with another image in 2020 since she has been such an important part of my days.  She was the perfect model for week fifty-one, Black and White minimalism.

With this image I even qualified for the extra credit for the week  which was nude.  She didn’t have her collar on, after all.

My final image, for week fifty-two’s challenge was to capture the year 2020 in an image.  While on my morning walk, I thought this scene pretty much summed it up nicely.

Although there were many challenges in 2020, there was also great beauty if you took the time to look for it.

I highly recommend the 52 Frames Challenge for anyone who wants to challenge themselves and do something with their photography.  I am extremely grateful for all who make the challenges and community possible.

I have already decided what my SOMETHING will be for 2021.  What will your SOMETHING be?
