“Play is the highest form of research.”
―
I just returned from a stay at the Outer Banks with great photography friends.
The Outer Banks is a place I have visited for photography on four previous trips. This time I wanted to try something new in order to come back with pictures different from the ones I have created before.
I recently purchased a new (to me) lens for the purpose of experimentation and play. The lens is the Helios 44m-4 58mm 1:2 Zenit Camera Lens. My intention was to photograph during the entire week using this lens.
As sometimes happens, my plans were changed when the focusing ring stopped functioning on the lens during my second full day in the Outer Banks. I was disappointed as I had really been enjoying exploring the world through this lens.
After I discovered this, I even continued to use the len at times with the broken focusing ring.
Here are some of the images I created using this lens and new way of seeing.
I thoroughly enjoyed exploring the Outer Banks in new ways using the Helios lens. I am hopeful that I will be able to get my lens fixed. If that is not a possibility, I will find another one to purchase to continue the adventure in other locations.
When is the last time you allowed yourself the joy of playing?
