Cruising on the Danube River

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
― H. Jackson Brown Jr.

In December, Randy and I took our second river cruise to explore Austria and Germany along the Danube River. I have found pros and cons of traveling in this manner.  One of the things I enjoy most is  the actual time spent cruising and the sights that can be enjoyed along the way.

During our cruise, the weather was mostly cloudy, but we did experience brief periods of clear skies.

Since the temperatures were cold, I often had the views shared only with the captain and crew.  It was so peaceful.

Although I enjoyed the clear days, the foggy morning we encountered was, by far, my favorite.

The locks really fascinate me.  On this foggy day, I photographed the entire time we approached and went through the lock.  I was intrigued by the beautiful colors and textures I was experiencing.  I took two hundred photographs during this time, knowing that I would in some way put them together upon my return home.

This is the result of putting those images together.

I enjoyed creating this composite and seeing where it would lead.

If you find yourself on a river cruise, be sure to take advantage of the time you are cruising on the river.  It is such a great part of the experience!
