Spring is a time when the world is bursting forth with the color green. When I first began my journey with photography, I heard people referring to spring greens. The greens of early spring are, indeed, different from the greens found in nature at other times of the year.
Recently I created a presentation for a workshop group. In part of that presentation, I focused on colors and associations people have with specific colors. As often happens, I learned something about myself and my photography while creating the presentation.
I discovered that in the past year, I have been photographing the color green much more frequently than in past years. It made sense to me when I saw that green is associated with new beginnings. This year has undoubtedly been a year of new beginnings for me. This has been the first year I have devoted full-time to photography and being a photography instructor. It has been an incredible journey so far.
Last week, I had the opportunity to do some personal photography at the Riverbanks Zoo and Gardens. It didn’t surprise me to find that my favorite images contained the color green.
I fell in love with this scene when I walked over to the area where the carnivorous plants can be found. The combination of colors and shapes simply took my breath away.
This week, when you are out and about, I hope you will have the chance to appreciate some spring greens.
It is thrilling to be able to visit the Riverbanks Zoo and Gardens so frequently. My frequent trips to photograph at the zoo began while completing one of my personal projects that I titled, Caged.
