“Invest in the human family. Invest in people. Build a little community of those you love and who love you.”

Six years ago I joined a community of photographers I discovered who were doing a photography scavenger hunt on Google Plus. I loved the idea of participating in a hunt and was absolutely amazed by the creativity I saw in the images that participants were creating for the hunt.
Although the hunt began years before I discovered the group,
new members of all skill levels were warmly welcomed. That welcoming and supportive atmosphere remains to this day.
You can view some of the history of the hunt here.
Participants receive a list and a set period of time to create an image for each word on the list. At the end of a designated time period, all scavengers upload their images and wait for the reveals. Fabulous volunteers organize all of these digital images and send them to our volunteering judges. Participants then wait with bated breath for the reveals to begin.
One word is revealed at a time, so the reveals will last as many days as there are words on the list.
Each time I experience the reveals, I am absolutely blown away by the creativity that was brought by each participant.
The creativity and support within the group makes you strive to become better and more creative.
I know that much of the progress I have made learning and working with Photoshop is a result of being a part of this group and participating in the hunt.
I have met some of the scavengers in person, others through Zoom. There are many scavengers who I have only met through their wonderful images shared and comments read on the computer. No matter how I know each scavenger, each have contributed to my photographic life and brought me joy through their participation.
Today is the final day of reveals for the 32nd scavenger hunt. For this hunt, all images needed to be presented in square format. There were nine words on the list. After completing all nine images, those images needed to be arranged in a square formatted grid.
Below, please find my submissions for the 32nd scavenger hunt as well as links for you to see the images created by more than 100 wildly creative scavengers made for each of the words, as well.

Just in case you were wondering about how I did this, I am adding one behind the scenes photograph. I needed something that would make a realistic large stick for my lollipop. This is what I found in the garage.

The final task for this hunt was to assemble all images into a square grid. The grids did not disappoint. You can view all of the scavenger’s grids here.
This is my grid for hunt 32.
