Caged: Time with the Animals

“An animal’s eyes have the power to speak a great language.”
― Martin Buber

Spending a couple of days a week at the zoo has allowed me to observe the animals.

Three white rhinoceros now call Riverbanks Zoo

their home.  Rhinos first came to the zoo in 2020.  Visitors to the zoo can get very close to view these magnificent animals at different viewing stations.

Each time I go to the zoo, I find myself observing different animals.  I like to take my time with them and observe their behavior.

The Galapagos Tortoises that make their home at the zoo are thought to be more than 100 years old.

While the tortoise is slow moving and easy to photograph, the lemurs require a bit more patience, on my part.

When my son, Jeremy, was younger, we always enjoyed watching the show, Zoboomafoo.  In this show, the Kratt brothers and a lemur taught children about animals.

I am enjoying learning more about the incredible animals and their behavior each week when I visit the zoo.
