“I am seeking, I am striving, I am in it with all my heart.”

An exciting exhibit, Van Gogh and His Inspirations, opened earlier this month at the Columbia Museum of Art. My mother learned that the exhibit was coming and encouraged me to go.
For years, my mother and I have
enjoyed going to art exhibits together. My mom is an artist and has been my art teacher and inspiration throughout my life.
The exhibit consists of twelve works by Van Gogh and works of other artists whose work he admired.
Gregory White Smith and Steven Naifeh assembled this collection during the years they spent researching and writing the biography, Van Gogh: The Life.
Since the exhibit just opened, there were many people at the museum eager to see Van Gogh’s work alongside works that inspired him. While there, I joined a group lead by a docent to learn even more about the exhibit.
As I made my way through the exhibit, I was filled with appreciation of having the opportunity to see these amazing works of art. I know that the art I view at museums and in books influences the art that I create through my photography.
I also am so thankful for my mother who has shared her love for art with me throughout my life! I know that art has added a whole new dimension to my life.
The exhibit, Van Gogh and His Inspirations, will be at the Columbia Museum of Art until January 12, 2020. I hope you will have an opportunity to experience Van Gogh’s work and the work of people who inspired him.

Van Gogh has always been one of my favorite artist and I loved studying his work further in college. I especially loved your take on the exhibit, Mary. And, how special to have become your Mother!
It was a great exhibit! So wish Mom could have joined me!
