Exploring Markets and Found Art in Jerusalem

“Travel makes one modest. You see what a tiny place you occupy in the world.”
― Gustave Flaubert

In June, I was able to go on the trip of a lifetime to visit my lifelong friend, Larry.  Larry is currently living in Jerusalem, Israel.

Larry has been living and working in Jerusalem for more than three years now.  He had created his own business, Chef at Home.

Larry had to work a couple of days while I was visiting.  It was such a pleasure to see him in action.  My passion is photography.  Larry’s passion is creating with food.

We went to the Machane Yehuda Market / Shuk to purchase ingredients for a meal Larry was preparing.  There were so many sights and incredible aromas to take in while there.

While Larry worked, I did some exploration of his neighborhood on my own.  I find it fascinating that unexpected art can be found in so many places.

One of my walks took me to The First Station, an outdoor shopping and cultural area that Larry had shown me before.  I was thrilled to find the walkway had recently been washed as it helped me capture these reflections.

Sometimes, when traveling, it is comforting to see something that anchors you to home.

I hope you will join me next to explore the Old City of Jerusalem.  If you are not already a subscriber to my blog, please subscribe so that you will know as soon as that story is published.
