Grandfather Mountain has become a very special place for me. I have attended Grandfather Mountain Camera Clinics and many Grandfather Mountain Nature Photography Weekends since becoming a photographer. I also had the honor of presenting one year at Grandfather Mountain Nature Photography Weekend. So many magical memories have been created there.
Yesterday was the first time I attended Grandfather Mountain Highland Games. Grandfather Mountain Highland Games celebrate Scottish heritage. Some of the many activities attendees can enjoy include listening to music, watching traditional Scottish athletics, watching dance competitions, viewing sheepdog demonstrations, visiting clans, and learning about heritage. I found my day there to be educational, fun, and festive.
Here are some of my favorite images from my day at Grandfather Mountain Highland Games.
I had an incredible day spending time with friends at Grandfather Mountain. I am so thankful for the experience and being able to photograph it in this way. Huge thanks to my friends on the mountain!
Tomorrow will be the last day of Grandfather Mountain Highland Games 2019. If you cannot make it to the games this year, be sure to put it on your schedule for next summer.

Wonderful Mary, your images are outstanding!
Thank you, so much, Lauri!
Great job of covering that event Mary. I like the way you isolate your subjects.
Thank you, kindly, Dan!
Mary I have been up there during the games but I’ve never attended. It looks like a lot of fun. Maybe I will try it next year.
It is a great deal of fun, Jim! I hope you get the opportunity to go soon!
