Fall is Coming!

“Autumn seemed to arrive suddenly that year. The morning of the first September was crisp and golden as an apple.”
― J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Although it is not yet autumn, there were signs of the coming season everywhere this past weekend in the North Carolina mountains.  The temperatures were shifting from one season to another.  Sweaters and jackets that had been packed away and forgotten were suddenly a necessity.

My husband, Randy, and I were on our way to an event in Beech Mountain Sunday afternoon.  As a photographer, you always need to keep your eyes open so you don’t miss a wonderful photographic opportunity.

We were running a bit behind schedule to get to our event, but something made me veer off of our course for a period of time to photograph. A thrift and consignment store named Curiosity, located in Boone, NC, had the most magnificent display of pumpkins and other fall related items in front of their store.  You can visit Curiosity’s Facebook page here.

There were pumpkins in so many different shapes, colors, and sizes.

Someone had spent a lot of time and care creating the arrangements of pumpkins.

I was so captivated by the display that after I had to be coaxed away to get to our event on time, I was sure to take the same route home in order to stop to spend more time photographing there.

There were so many colors and textures.  It truly was a photographers paradise.

My favorite image from my stops at Curiosity was this one of the fall items being displayed on this old truck.

The next time you are out and about, be sure to pay attention to the signs that autumn is on the way!
