NC Chinese Lantern Festival

I was thrilled to learn about the North Carolina Chinese Lantern Festival from information that was sent from the Charlotte Camera Club.  I am always on the lookout for new, exciting things to photograph.  This seemed like just the right opportunity.

The lantern festival takes place at the Booth Amphitheatre in Cary, North Carolina.  Tickets can be purchased online or at the gate.  When my family and I went to the festival, we were thankful that we purchased our tickets online prior to arriving at the festival as this saved us a great deal of time.

Guests visiting the Chinese Lantern Festival will enjoy the many, beautiful walk through displays.  Photographers will be happy to know that there is no problem taking large camera backpacks into and through the exhibits.

When photographing these types of things at night, I try to plan my visit to be photographing during twilight (an  hour after the sun sets) in order to get the nice blue sky.  This was not possible since the festival did not open until the end of twilight.

Two of the major displays, the Chinese dragon and the swans were located bordering the lake.  If I get an opportunity to go back, I will seek out a way to get a reflection shot from the other side of the lake.

The dates of the NC Chinese Lantern Festival are from November 25, 2016 until January 15, 2017.  It is an event that the whole family will enjoy.  If you  haven’t already made plans to do so, plan now to visit the NC Chinese Lantern Festival in Carey, NC.
