North Carolina Museum of Art

One of the things my family and I did during the holiday break was visit the North Carolina Museum of Art.  The museum is located in Raleigh, North Carolina.

We went to the museum to see the Rolling Sculptures Art Deco Car exhibit.  Cars in the exhibit were from the 1930s and 1940s.   This exhibit will be open until January 15, 2017.

As I made my way through the exhibit, I focused on detail shots throughout the exhibit.  Photography was allowed in the exhibit as long as flash and tripods were not used.  Since this was a low light situation, I chose my 105 mm lens and shot with it throughout the exhibit.  I have found that this lens performs well under these types of conditions.

One of my favorite detail shots was the reflection I was able to capture on the side of this vehicle.

My family and I enjoyed the photography and other art on exhibit in the same building with the Art Deco Cars.

This was a zoom blur of a butterfly mobile that was hanging in the entryway of the building.

Many were enjoying all that the museum has to offer on this gray, winter day.

Although this was my first visit to the museum, I have already planned my next visit.  While paying our admission, I noticed that Ansel Adams Masterworks will be on exhibit there from Febrary 4 – May 7.  This is one exhibit I will not be able to miss.  I am currently reading Ansel Adams’ autobiography.  This will be an excellent time for me to revisit some of my favorite Ansel Adams photographs.

Now would be a great time for  you to plan an outing to the North Carolina Museum of Art.
