“Taking pictures is savoring life intensely, every hundredth of a second.”
― Marc Riboud
At the close of each year, I like to reflect upon my photography created in that year. I look at my work and remember the people and places that led to each photograph.
Often, the people who were involved are not apparent to the viewer of the photograph, but have a great deal of impact on the making of the image. I find that I seem to do my best work photographically when I am very comfortable and at peace. This can happen when I am photographing by myself or with friends or family members with whom I feel very comfortable.
As I went through my folders, I chose twelve images that I feel best represent my year of photographing. Each of the following images captures a slice of time that I was thrilled to be able to witness and capture. This first image came from my winter folder.
The next two images were taken during the spring.
The following images come from my summer folder. Since I am not working during eight weeks of the summer, I have many wonderful opportunities to photograph.
What I did find surprising was that many of my favorite images from 2016 were taken in the fall. Although the fall colors in my area were not as vivid as in many recent years, I still found great subjects to photograph.
So there you have my favorite twelve images from 2016. I always feel that my most recent images are the ones I like the best which may be why I have more that I like from the fall than from earlier on in the year.
I am looking forward to seeing where my camera takes me in 2017. I feel so fortunate to have discovered this passion of photography. Thank you for allowing me to share it with you!
