“Your children are not your children.
They are sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you.
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.” Kahil Gibran
A new school year is always quite a transition for me and those who live with me. It is challenging to go from two months of unstructured time to so much structured time. It often takes a month or so
to get back into the “groove”. While I relearn how to have balance in all facets of my life, my camera often gets abandoned for a short period of time.
This past weekend, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to spend the entire weekend with my son, Jeremy, at Parent’s Weekend at the University of South Carolina. Jeremy is a sophomore this year, so it was our second Parent’s Weekend experience.
This is my son, Jeremy, and his beautiful girlfriend, Abi. I enjoyed spending time and taking pictures of family while at Parent’s Weekend.
I also enjoyed taking pictures of the events that we attended. We attended an evening event at the athletic center, a pregame tailgate party, and a football game while at Parent’s weekend.
The pregame party was located close to the stadium. We watched the football players entering the stadium. They were greeting their fans on their way.
The band, cheerleaders, and the USC mascots were at the pregame tailgate party. They were getting the crowd excited about the game.
When entering the stadium, you are no longer allowed to carry in a camera bag. Fortunately, I had researched this prior to the game. I carried my camera and brought an extra lens in the permissible see-through, plastic bag.
While enjoying the game, I was able to capture a few images that caught my attention.
When things are going well for USC fans, they wave their white towel furiously to Sandstorm. Luckily, the Gamecocks were victorious during the game on this Parent’s Weekend.
I so enjoyed spending time with family and friends while enjoying another Parent’s Weekend at USC. I also enjoyed brushing the light film of dust off of my camera as I work to again add balance to my life.
