A dear friend of mine, Tanji, and I have been visiting each other for a week each summer for the past twenty-four years. We started this tradition when we both moved away from Charleston, SC, where we began our friendship.
About eight years ago, we spent part of our time at St. Pete Beach with our children. Visiting St. Pete Beach began an additional tradition as we now try to spend a couple of days there each time I visit my friend in Florida.
When we go to St. Pete Beach, there are two places we like to stay. We always enjoy staying at
Tradewinds Island Resorts and the Guy Harvey Outpost. This past visit, we stayed at the Guy Harvey Outpost.
In either location, you can just park your car and find plenty to do at the resort and at the beach during your stay. There are restaurants both on property and within walking distance.
I enjoyed getting out for sunrise each morning to see what I could find on the beach. My friend and her daughter, Colby, enjoyed sleeping in while I was out exploring. I love the colors that can be found along the beach.
While I was out exploring, I came upon an area of nesting Black Skimmers. I was able to keep my distance so as not to disturb the birds while photographing them.
Once my friends awakened, we enjoyed relaxing both at the pool and on the beach. This is one of my favorite pictures I took while at St. Pete Beach. This picture is of my beautiful Goddaughter, Colby.
On my second morning looking for images shortly after sunrise, I revisited a location from the morning before. I loved the colors of this structure on the beach. The previous morning, there was not a cloud in the sky while I was there. I was happy to have clouds and great light on the second morning.
The next time you are looking for a great place to spend your vacation time, I can highly recommend St. Pete Beach!
