“Once you choose hope, anything is possible.”
-Christopher Reeve
Hope did, indeed, float May 1, 2016 at the U.S. National Whitewater Center. May 1 was the date
of the 12th Annual Hope Floats Duck Race. The Hope Floats Duck Race raises money for KinderMourn.
KinderMourn is a wonderful organization that helps families who lose a child. Kindermourn has been helping families who are grieving for 38 years.
The Hope Floats Duck Race is a festive event that raises money for such a good cause.
Prior to the race, individuals and businesses can adopt ducks for the race. The duck that is randomly selected at the finish line wins the grand prize. This year the grand prize was $2,500.
People line up along the edges of the water in anticipation for the start of the race. The ducks are lowered into the water. The race is on!
As the ducks make their way through the rapids, kayakers enjoy paddling among them.
While the ducks are making their way towards the finish line, many are taking advantage of some of the other activities at the Whitewater Center. There is a ropes course and opportunities for ziplining.
The race wraps up when a winner is selected. It is a wonderful event for all who attend.
As the race concludes, boats are filled with ducks. These ducks will be packed away for next year’s race.
I hope you will make plans to be a part of the 13th Annual Hope Floats Duck Race next year. Enjoy a day with your family while you support a wonderful organization!
