Marsh Walk

Whenever I am near Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, I love to go to the Marsh Walk in the early mornings to photograph.  The photographic possibilities are endless as you have opportunities to photograph the rising sun, wildlife along the walk, landscape opportunities, and interesting details shots that can be found along the way.

There are many restaurants that back up to a boardwalk that overlooks the marsh.  There are also

recreational activities awaiting visitors for the day.  Visitors can find boat excursion opportunities, kayaks for renting, and scuba diving along the Marsh Walk.

During my last visit to Marsh Walk, I wanted to photograph the colorful kayaks that were waiting for the day’s passengers.  I am so drawn to color.  I created my featured image for this blog by zooming in and out during a long exposure of the kayaks.  Whenever doing this type of photography, I make several attempts.  That way, I can choose my favorite once I get back home and have a chance to load the images on my computer.

There were interesting, colorful details all along the walk.  I kept looking at the shoes that someone had hung up to dry for their next day’s activities.  I made several different compositions using these shoes.  Once home, I used one of my favorite plugins, Topaz Impression, to find a look that I liked for this image.

I even tried some compositions that captured both the shoes and the colorful kayaks.  The brightly colored clothespins just added to the image.

There were not only recreational activities waiting for the grownups to participate, but also activities geared towards pleasing younger visitors.  This scene was captured on board a ship waiting for young passengers and their parents.

There are so many wonderful details to take in along the way.
