One of My Favorite Places

One of my favorite places to go for a weekend is the Grove Park Inn.  The Grove Park Inn first opened its doors and began welcoming guests in 1913.  You can watch a short video about the history of the Grove Park Inn here.

The Grove Park Inn has become a special place for

my husband, Randy, and me.  Early on, while we were dating, Randy first introduced me to the Grove Park when he took me there to have lunch on the Sunset Terrace.  While eating at the Sunset Terrace, you can enjoy a gorgeous view of the mountains and Asheville.

Whether visiting just for the day or staying there, there is always something to see and do at the Grove Park Inn.

The grand lobby is always bustling with activity.  Guests enjoy sitting by the fireplaces.

Until recently, only one of the fireplaces was a working fireplace.  During our most recent stay, we found one of the fireplaces has a real fire.  The other fireplace now has gas logs.  The guests seemed to be enjoying both fireplaces tremendously.

The best time to photograph in the Grand Lobby is before sunrise.  The photos I have taken there were taken before sunrise as it is almost impossible to find these chairs unoccupied at other times of the day.

The Grove Park was built to last.  I find every detail of the building fascinating.

Those staying at the Grove Park Inn can also enjoy the Spa at the Grove Park.  Guests can schedule Spa Treatments and enjoy the amazing indoor pool.  If you don’t wish to book a treatment at the spa, but would like to enjoy the pool, you can check with the Spa first thing each morning to see if  they have any passes available for purchase to the pool.  Swimming in this indoor pool is my favorite thing to do a the Grove Park Inn.  Nothing relaxes me more.

There are also special events that happen each year at the Grove Park.  Each year there is a Gingerbread House Competition.  You will  have your next opportunity to see these gingerbread houses November 23, 2016-January 9, 2017.  Another event we try to attend each year is the National Arts & Crafts Conference.  The next conference will be held February 17 – 19, 2017.  It will be the thirtieth anniversary of this conference.

My husband, Randy, and I have celebrated special birthdays, the Fourth of July, and New Year’s Eve at the Grove Park Inn through the years.  It is a very special place to us.  I know it will become a favorite place for you, as well.  So, make your plans to stop in at the Grove Park Inn the next time you are in Asheville, NC.
