My holiday season began Wednesday morning at Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden. My mother first introduced me to this wonderful garden years ago. Thanks to her, I have been a member ever since.
I have spent hours upon hours at Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden. I took my first photography courses there from my wonderful first teacher, Dave Kelly. There is something to see and to photograph in every season at Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden.
Wednesday was my first day off of work for the Thanksgiving break. I made my way, first thing, to the garden to start off my break. It was the perfect way to start my break as it was so peaceful at the garden. I had the place almost to myself in the early hours of the day. Soft Christmas music accompanied me on my photographic journey through the garden.
The garden is currently decorated for the holidays. Once you arrive, one of the first things you will see is the Christmas tree covered with orchids. The gentleman who works there let me know that the tree was currently blooming 70 percent. He advised to come back often to see how the tree changed. I plan to do just that.
Once I enjoyed the interior rooms of the garden, I walked the garden paths to see what I could see. It was a bright, sunny day. This is fantastic for those who want to stroll the garden paths, but not as optimal for those wishing to photograph. I decided to make my way indoors to the orchid conservatory.
Once in the orchid conservatory, there were wonderful things to photograph everywhere I looked. I began photographing orchids that were arranged on a tree. Here is one of my favorite compostions from the orchid tree.
I finished my morning at Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden taking pictures of an arrangement of ferns. They were not only so very interesting, but there were pink flowers behind the fern that made such a wonderful background for the fern. I spent a great deal of time photographing this subject as I wanted to make sure to walk away with something that I would be proud of.
I simply could not have started my Thanksgiving holiday off any more perfectly than with a trip to Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden.
I cannot wait to return for the Holiday Lights at the Garden.
